Since 1993, when web development was in its infancy, most of the websites were designed by engineers and programmers. It was apparent that designers needed to step in and push the limits of this technology. A few of the websites in this portfolio are samples of those earlier sites. I consider these good design examples that represent that technology shouldn't lead design... imagination, creativity, form, function and content should be the foundation of web development. In
1998, I was asked to present a talk on "Developing Creative Websites"
at an annual web conference for the AT&T and Lucent Technologies R&D
community. Although the technology is more sophisticated today, I believe
this presentation is both valid and appropriate for explaining the fundamentals
of the web development process for both the client and the creative. I
