On Cyber Monday or anytime you are ordering something online be wary of Dark Patterns, these are design patterns weaved within a site that are purposefully designed to scam the user...some are obvious while others subtle. For example, I ordered something from Zazzle.com last year and found out their default was to make me member at a price of $9.99/annual set to auto renew every year unless I went out of my way to opt out, this is a deceptive practice that some online companies use to trick users to paying unwanted fees or services. See the video below for other "evil" practices... ![]() Long time friend Marge Paradise casually mentioned to me she won Best in Show at the PSNJ Ninth Annual Members Exhibit, Livingston gallery. I think that's great news and an opportunity to share her new portfolio at paradisestudio.weebly.com for others to enjoy. Nice work and kudos to Marge! ![]() I've recently stumbled upon a local artist Brett McLain in Newton, NJ who brings chainsaw art to another level in my opinion. He appears to have a flair for playful and whimsical designs which is a favorite of mine. If you have the opportunity to visit his shop or the website I think you'll enjoy his work. I recently purchased a bear carving from him for the path to my home. |
