I've recently stumbled upon a local artist Brett McLain in Newton, NJ who brings chainsaw art to another level in my opinion. He appears to have a flair for playful and whimsical designs which is a favorite of mine. If you have the opportunity to visit his shop or the website I think you'll enjoy his work. I recently purchased a bear carving from him for the path to my home.

Webby Awards 2013, this is a good place to see the best of the Web in many categories...enjoy. Note: the awards include People's Voice winners as well. Friend and former colleague Keith Drake displays a tribute to America and Ray Charles, etched live in about 17 minutes for students attending the 2012 Union County Teen Arts Festival at Union County College in Cranford, NJ March 16, 2012. Great work Keith!
Ever notice the cool type treatments in current book cover designs and advertising... might be Jessica Hische's work...definitely worth a look. Spotted this in a Seth Godin email, 100,000 plus vintage advertising images from the 1870's to 2000. Great reference for design teachers, but should be interesting to all. www.vintageadbrowser.com/ Doing a search for labels the search engine allows for search by color as well. There is also a sister site for Covers, for example: "Twilight Zone" www.coverbrowser.com As much as I love Photoshop, its an expensive program, however, there are lots on online photo editing tools available for FREE...here are 28 of them. Each tool offers a variety of tools to edit, distort, and have fun with. I used "Picnik" to do some color correction on a photo of Alex (my son) sneaking up on an unsuspecting sea urchin (no worries, no sea urchins were harmed while filming) Jeffrey Eckhardt (14) was the photographer...nice shot. |
